The heater safety switch cuts power off from the heater if something falls on the heater. You should never dry towels or other textiles in the sauna, but unfortunately some do, and it is a serious fire risk if a piece of cloth drops on the heater.
A typical fire is caused by having a clothesline in the sauna, hanging clothes on plastic hangers above the heater. Then turning the sauna on, not remembering those clothes. The plastic hanger melts and gives. Never use the sauna as a drying place.
The Harvia safety ring is excellent for airbnb and other public saunas. It can be connected to Xenio control units, and also to any control system by connecting it to the temperature sensor cable as a cut-off feature.
